Hankyu 32-Bangai begins visualizing and distributing the real-time congestion information with “VACAN”!

On March 1, 2021, Vacan, Inc. (HQ: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Takanobu Kawano) began visualizing the real-time vacancy information of about 30 restaurants in Hankyu 32Bangai Soraniwa Dining using AI and IoT. The information can then be shared on the digital signage inside the facility or through Vacan’s platform, VACAN Maps, which can be viewed from the smartphone. By doing so, shoppers can check the vacancy information of each restaurant listed without going all the way up to the Soraniwa Dining.

About the Installation

The service will be used in 27 restaurants in Hankyu 32-Bangai Soraniwa Dining.

The real-time vacancy information of the restaurant can be checked from the digital signage or from the facility’s website. There is also a service called “VACAN Maps”(https://vacan.com) which is a platform where users can view the vacancy information of nearby facilities on the map or as a list, so they don’t have to physically go to the store to check.

The level of congestion will be manually updated using the IoT button or automatically detected and updated using the AI camera and will be displayed in three levels, “Vacant”, “Fairly Crowded”, “Full”.

Reason for Installing VACAN Maps

Hankyu 32-Bangai Soraniwa Dining in Umeda, Osaka is over 100 meters above the ground and used by many people because of the great view. Before, it was difficult to know how crowded it was without physically going there since it is on the upper floor, so there were many customers who went all the way up but could not enter.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, facilities are expected to take action to prevent crowds. Using VACAN Maps, customers can check the level of congestion of restaurants from their smartphone or the digital signage inside the facility before going there. With this customers can enjoy shopping and dining safely.
